XXI Iberian Congress of Entomology

The Spanish Entomological Association (AeE) was founded in 1977 and brings together a large number of Spanish entomologists, with the aim of promoting and publicising entomological studies that refer to the Ibero-Balearic and Macaronesian fauna, through meetings and publications and establishing contacts with other similar scientific societies. Committed since its foundation to the conservation of species and habitats, the association is a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), actively participating in the Spanish Committee of this organisation, as well as in other conservation initiatives and projects in collaboration with various national and international entities.

The Catholic University "Santa Teresa de Jesús" of Avila was founded by D. Antonio Cañizares, Bishop of the Diocese of Avila in 1996. It comprises four faculties: Sciences and Arts, Social and Legal Sciences, Health Sciences and Humanities and Education.

The University offers a project of integral education according to the Catholic Church's global vision of man, bringing knowledge into dialogue with each other and making the question of God and man present as central to the search for the whole truth. By linking culture, study and research, it brings to society the fruit of its commitment to the evangelising mission of the Church: the formation of persons. In order to adapt to the personal needs of its students, the University of Avila has developed cutting-edge, modern and active educational technology.

The Portuguese Society of Entomology (SPEN) was founded in 1978, with the main objectives of stimulating research and scientific dissemination in the field of Entomology and promoting the exchange of information between entomologists. Throughout its history it has promoted publications and scientific, cultural and environmental education activities related to Entomology, as well as training activities (courses, workshops, etc.), meetings and congresses. It has collaborated in several national projects relevant to the knowledge and conservation of invertebrate biodiversity in Portugal, supporting decision-making based on scientific knowledge.
